Sample of Grid:
|
This year is a ‘grid’ type of Robin so rather than a row or a round of blocks we will make blocks to fit into a grid. We are providing a 36” by 48” grid divided into twelve 12” blocks. This is the grid we would like you to use to avoid confusion. After you get all your blocks back (in December) you may change the layout any way you prefer, adding rows, columns or blocks as you desire. You will each be completing two 12 ½” blocks or the equivalent. In other words, each block you make will be in the 3/6/9/12 category but they must equal 12 ½ x 12 ½ ” (this includes the seam allowance of ¼ ” so that the finished block would be 12”.) The squares within each block are either 3 ½ , 6 ½ , 9 ½ or 12 ½ or a combination (3 ½ ” by 9 ½ ” for example) and I’ve marked them for you. It’s ok to go outside your block as long as you do the equivalent of two 12 ½ ” blocks. -Blocks Shared at June 2010 Guild Meeting-
The next group of blocks will be shared in August. Make your own Grid Quilt! Packet Includes:
On the grid pick two 12” blocks and fill it in! How easy is that? (Questions? Just call me!) Please cross out the block as you fill it in, so we will all end up with a nice variety. Let’s get Rockin’!! February your starting blocks are due. Bring them in a sturdy (labeled) transport bag/container. No need for a muslin or flannel backing. In the bag/container also put your information sheet and a bit of extra fabric for the other participants to use in their rows if desired. Include patterns, pictures and/or ideas you would like your team members to use or have the option of using. After that the blocks will be due every other month (April, June, August, October, and December). We will show the newest blocks at the ‘even-month’ meetings as we go through the year. We will show the finished tops (or the finished quilt!) next January. The Very Important Rules:
