2016 Activities for Moonlight Quilters
If you are a participant, please let Donna know whether you would like to continue into 2017 in order to receive 12 blocks rather than 9.
Everybody has a favorite quilt block. I’m sure many of you have several. This year’s round robin will capitalize on your strengths. I’m sure we can all make time to sew one 12″ block each month, especially if we choose our own block, so we hope to have lots of our guild members participating in the Round Robin.
So come to the February meeting armed with a list of your THREE favorite 12″ blocks, which is all you need to sign up for the round robin. (If you cannot make it to the meeting, but want to join the round robin, e-mail Donna at her home email. See address list in Members Only)
In return for your list, you will receive an anonymous pizza box and a complete list of rules.
If you need help choosing your three blocks, we will have some references available for you to browse through during the meeting. You can also find block patterns galore on the web at places like quiltville.com , or quilterscache.com, or just Google quilt block patterns.
You will take home your pizza box, find fabrics to fill the box, and make one 12″ block (from your list). Unless blocks are duplicated across different lists, you will get to choose any block from your list to make as your contribution to the exchange. You only get to choose one block, though, so make it one you’ll have fun making every month.
Bring your filled pizza box with your first block to the March meeting, and turn it in to the activities table.
At the end of the meeting, you will take home a different pizza box filled with fabrics.
Using the fabrics in the new box, make the SAME block you made last month.
Return the box and block in April, and continue the process.
We want the reveal to be a surprise for everyone, so completed blocks will not be in the boxes. After the final month’s exchange you will receive all the blocks made for you from your fabrics.
You will be making only one block each month, and will finish with a coordinated sampler block set. The total number of members participating will determine how many exchanges we can make, and how large your quilt will finish.
(Information sent by email the first week of February. Donna C. coordinator)
We are hoping to receive the remainder of the Arrowhead Blocks at the February meeting. If you took a white background square, please turn in your completed blocks and we will make a great quilt. Thank you!
Christmas Quilt- Michele B. & Sharon D.
Our 2016 Christmas Quilt with a Country Christmas theme, is well on it’s way to completion. We had a preview of the unfinished quilt top in September and it is lovely. Be sure to purchase a ticket for this treasure!
2016 Quilt Challenge-President Linda will reveal the details for this year’s Quilt Challenge at the February Meeting. Hint, hint. It will have something to do with the number 25! This is our 25th year as a guild!
