Anita Luvera Mayer,"The Creative Journey" or (The Secret Formula for Creativity)
It is the personal journey of a self-taught fiber artist who has traveled from place mats to quilted kimonos. It is one woman's struggle to understand the creative process, identify inspiration, and learn how to translate those concepts into her work and her life. What is inspirtion? Where do ideas come from? What do you do with them? How does one begin? These will all be discussed in this session that looks at thirty years of laughter, tears, and frustration as one person searches and learns the "secret formula" for creative thinking.

Peggy Gelbrich, Signature Quilts. Guild members are encouraged to bring their own signature quilts to share. For over 30 years, Peggy has been quilting and teaching quilt making . She especially enjoys helping others catch the quilting bug. Teaching and sharing the art of quilt making is her passion. She has taught quilt making up and down the West Coast from Alaska to California, Utah and Idaho teaching at large guild classes, quilting retreats and small private groups in her home. Her patience and teaching style earned her a nomination for 2009 Teacher of the Year for Professional Quilter magazine. Originally from Oregon, Peggy spent 22 years in Ketchikan, Alaska with her husband, Ron. Between raising their three children and a full time job, Peggy managed to teach quilt making and make quilts that won many awards and were accepted for showing at the American Quilt Society show in Paducah, Kentucky and the Association of Pacific Northwest Quilter’s show in Seattle, Washington. Her quilt, “Roses for Travis and Sharon” is pictured in the book, “Rose Sampler Supreme,” by Rosemary Mahkan. She has been published in several editions of Fons and Porter’s Love of Quilting and Quilter’s Newsletter magazines. Peggy continues to update her skills and knowledge about quilting techniques. She teaches all types of machine piecing as well as handwork including needle turn appliqué and the Thimblelady method of hand quilting. She is always looking for that next quilting challenge to learn and pass onto her students. Guild Elections will be held at this meeting. |
