Location: New Horizon Community Church – 4600 Guide Meridian (corner of Horton and Guide) We’ve measured out the area once more to get a firmer idea of space allotments. Once we have all the registrations in and measurements figured out we will begin planning the placement of the quilts onto the sheets. We will be looking for volunteers to assist in this endeavor. Time has yet to be set, but we will be working at the Bekins Storage facility. Please let me know if you are interested in helping. Many hands make light work :O). Standards: Once we have an idea of the number of standard we will need for the show we will be trsavelling to Anacortes to pick them up. This will be done the Wednesday before the show. Able bodied folks are needed to assist carrying the standards up the stairs of the location in which they are stored. (I need to call Anacortes to learn if the standards are being stored in the same location as the last time). If so, we’ll need help. Set-up and take down: This is definitely an all hands on deck situation! A call is going out now for members to assist in setting up the standards and placing the sheets. You will be called. The same applies to the take down. Since we are having the show at a church, we need to have everything done by 7 pm. That means everyone needs to come and get their quilts no later than 6 PM. Take down is usually a lot easier that setting up. Hosts: This is a lot of fun! Just be available to answer questions related to the quilts being shown. Tell people where the tea room is, and help supervise. Quilt Registrations: Please see Sally Strawn to give her your registrations. If you need your quilt to be photographed, she will be in the back hallway during the break to take a picture of your quilt. Must have a registration form for the quilt to turn in at the same time (unless you’ve already sent it in to Sally). Tea Room: Sign-up sheet in the back of the room for cookies for the two days. Please see Rose Thorn. She will also need volunteers for the event. Guest Certificates: A new item this year. Certificates are available to pick up for a friend, relative or whomever you wish to invite to the Quilt Show. This is a free admittance for one individual to the show for either the 24 th or the 25 th. If your guest uses the certificate you will be responsible for paying for the price of admission for them, (which is $3.00). We will keep the used certificates (for financial reporting purposes) and present you with copies for verification. If the certificate is not used you are NOT responsible for payment. You will need to sign for the certificates when you take them. Locations to drop off your quilts on 8/23 or 8/24/2010. Central Bellingham Michele Barrie, 1606 James St, 305-6246, michele@weasel-works.com South Bellingham Rose Thorne, 1017 Cowgill Ave, 647-9336 Northeast Bellingham Alice Opryszek, 3846 Pincher St., 671-7752, ms. blueyes@comcast.net North Bellingham Sally Strawn, 1209 Garland Lane, 671-1631, salstrawn@comcast.net Ferndale Kim West, 4359 Rural Ave, 676-7531, west4home@aol.com Lynden Janice Hudson, 912 Loomis Trail Rd., Lynden, 354-4353, jjhudson7@comcast.net Sitting with the Rafffel Quilt: We’ve just had the quilt at the La Conner Museum and it did well in sales. Last weekend members sat at the Barkley Haggens in Bellingham. We are finding that locations that are not directly related to “Quilting” sparks a lot of interest. The next several weeks we will be at the Bellingham Farmer’s Market and other locations. Sherry Roodhouse has been doing a wonderful job keeping the quilt in the public’s eye. She will have a list for times available to sit with the quilt and where it will be shown next. Raffle Basket: Tonya has worked very hard to have a raffle basket that will WOW everyone. Tickets are now available for $1 a piece. Buy some now and take some with you to sell to your friends and family. Publicity: We’ve sent information to all the shops up and down the I-5 and locally about our show. Flyers and bookmarks with a letter letting them know that more is available if requested. We are now making up the large posters. If you are interested in getting one for your workplace or you know of a great location to post one, please let Sharon know and she will get one to you. This is a list of what we will need volunteers for come September: Pinning quilts to sheets Getting and hauling the standards to and from the truck Setting up the show Tea Room Hostesses Quilt Show Hostesses (includes admittance sales as well and quilt and basket raffle sales) Demonstrations (this is still up in the air as no-one has come forward to chair this) Take Down And probably a few more that I can’t think of right now. Thanks, |
