2 Color Bindings . . . Gives the Look of Piping
Tip provided by Eddie Walker Quilts
For your binding choose two colors/fabrics with good contrast.
Color A: Cut 1 3/4″ strips and sew into a continual strip long enough for all four sides of your quilt.
Color B: Cut 1 1/2″ strips and sew into a continual strip long enough for all four sides of your quilt.
Sew Color A and B together lengthwise, using a 1/4″ seam
Press the seam toward Color B, or the narrower of the 2 strips. Fold in half and press. This will leave an 1/8″ strip of Color A showing.
Sew the binding to the BACK of your quilt. You will be able to stitch down from the front of the quilt, either stitching in the ditch or or top stitch on Color A.
