	Complimentary Colors
	Use a color wheel to find Complimentary Colors for your next quilt. These are colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. These colors activate the eye due to their distance from one another. Johannes Itten even determined the ideal amounts of color complements that please the human eye. You can consult the ratios below before you start piecing. It can be a helpful guide and may ensure that you don't overpower a quilt with too much of one particular color.
	Ratios of Complementary Colors Red/Green 1:1 Blue/Orange 5:3 Violet/Yellow 6:3 Orange and yellow are the most intense colors so you need less of them to make a statement.
